After six years of leading worship in the Hillsboro area, first at Our Place Christian Church and then at Church at Bethany, Steve came to join the staff at ERF in March of 2009. He has brought with him a vitality that is infectious and a love and submission to the Lord that is not only pleasing to God, but inspiring to the congregation and its ministries as Steve leads us in our corporate worship of Him!
Steve and Katie, still newlyweds, were married in 2007. Although Steve is a native to the Pacific Northwest, Katie is from Southern California and didn’t come to Oregon until her love for Steve left her with no choice! They have not yet begun to have children per say, but they do adore and spoil their two dogs, Pink and Floyd in a similar fashion. Aside from spending time with his beautiful wife, Steve also plays in a band he has been with for almost eleven years now, once called “I AM” the group is currently going by the name “HouseofNow.”
In Steve’s own words…. “My vision for worship is a high-energy outpouring that is pleasing to God. My focus is on the heart and not a ‘performance.’ I have a heart for the broken because I know firsthand what God can do with a willing soul.”
In line with his vision for worship and heart for the broken is his favorite verse, 2 Corinthians 12:9…
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me…
